At Douglas OHI, health is a fundamental part of who we are. As we mark World Health Day 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to the well-being of our employees, ensuring that health and safety remain at the core of our operations - not just for a day, but every single day.
Our approach goes beyond compliance. Through regular health-focused initiatives, we create a work environment where both physical and mental well-being are actively supported.
Across our projects, we implement tailored health and safety campaigns that address job-specific risks. These initiatives reinforce best practices, equipping our teams with the knowledge and resources needed to work safely and stay healthy.
In addition, our regular health check-ups monitor key health indicators, including:
• Blood Sugar Levels: Helping employees manage and prevent diabetes.
• Cholesterol & Blood Pressure: Reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
• Weight Management: Promoting overall fitness and well-being.
• Mental Health Support: Recognising that well-being extends beyond physical health, we encourage open conversations and provide access to resources that support mental resilience.
At Douglas OHI, we understand that true wellbeing includes both physical and mental health. That’s why we introduced the ‘It’s OK’ programme, encouraging open discussions about mental health in the workplace. Guided by five core principles, this initiative helps employees feel supported and empowered:
1. Be proactive and think, “What might happen?” Let’s act before it’s too late.
2. Everyone can be a leader in making the workplace safer and healthier.
3. Speak up - telling someone about a concern allows us to take action.
4. Look out for each other - share your thoughts and concerns.
5. It’s OK to ask questions - you deserve answers.
At Douglas OHI, we believe that health and safety awareness should not be confined to the workplace - it should be a way of life. With this vision in mind, we launched the Dougie Works Safely Colouring Book, a pioneering initiative designed to make HSE engaging, relatable, and accessible to our employees and their families.
By extending education beyond the workplace, we create a ripple effect - fostering a culture where health and safety are not just requirements but shared values passed on across generations. Engaging younger family members in safety awareness reinforces the importance of wellbeing at work and at home, strengthening our collective commitment to a healthier future.
At Douglas OHI, we believe that a healthy workforce is a stronger workforce. That’s why we foster a culture of care, where every individual feels supported in maintaining their health. Whether through awareness sessions, wellness initiatives, or access to professional health services, we are committed to making wellbeing a shared responsibility.
As we observe World Health Day, we take this opportunity to reflect on our progress and look ahead to further enhancing our employee health programmes. Because at Douglas OHI, health isn’t just a focus for one day - it’s embedded in our DNA.
