Empowering a Safer Workforce: Douglas OHI’s Commitment to Hand Safety

At Douglas OHI, health and safety are the foundation of our operational ethos. This was exemplified by the recent hand safety campaign and training sessions conducted by our UAE project team in Abu Dhabi. The initiative sought to reinforce the vital message: “Your hands are invaluable, and workplace complacency can lead to accidents with potentially life-altering consequences.”

The sessions featured interactive role plays that highlighted the risks associated with hand injuries and the importance of vigilance. Employees were reminded of crucial preventative measures, including adhering to safe work practices, recognising potential hazards in tasks, equipment, and materials, and implementing the necessary steps to prevent injuries.

Practical demonstrations showcased the various types of gloves utilised across the project, with detailed guidance on selecting the appropriate hand protection based on specific tasks and associated risks. This hands-on approach proved highly effective, fostering a deeper understanding of hand safety in everyday operations.

The campaign was met with commendation from client management, who recognised its value in educating the workforce and fostering a robust safety culture. Initiatives like these not only safeguard our people but also strengthen our commitment to delivering projects that prioritise well-being and operational excellence.
