Electrical Safety Best Practice

Douglas OHI employees working on the Duqm Refinery project were given an in-house refresher session on Electrical Safety Work Practices.

All participants were reminded of the guidelines for safely working around electrical hazards.

The session also included:

  • Specific hazards associated with their potential exposure;
  • Isolation of energy;
  • Hazard identification;
  • Wiring, connection to supply;
  • Generation, transmission;
  • Distribution installations;
  • Clearance distances;
  • Use of personal protective equipment;
  • Insulated tools;
  • Emergency procedures.

The session demonstrated how important it is to communicate with each other and perhaps learn something new or be reminded of something that will help us to improve on the way we keep our colleagues, co-workers and others safe and healthy.

For more information on the various ways in which we strive to improve the lives and working environments for our employees both at and away from work, please read our monthly HSSE Newsletter Take Thirty.
